Hi lindatee2002,
Have a look at the pub topic, as I'm visiting pubs as a way of life at present.
All of the best recommendations in the world, won't ever stop a venue having a bad day.
I tend to avoid lavish, as my experience shows that so often, the ambiance is costing more than the food.
So to help you out, lindatee2002, can our members post their eating venue experiences on the pub topic please.
Thank you.

How far out of Coventry are you talking about? The last meal we had was at the Falcon in Hatton with 10 people, they do a very nice Sunday lunch. Not cheap but worth it for a family do. Beautiful Yorkshire puds. The new manager had only been there a few weeks and he did come and speak to us and explained they were going to change the menu to have more foreign food so worth looking at their menus online. I do agree with what Philip says, yes places can have a bad day, also one man's meat ....... If you recommend somewhere, someone else can think what on earth did they see in this place! Another place we used to like was the Cottage at Fillongley but it has been sometime since we have been there. Wherever you go, enjoy. |

Anne, sorry it took so long to get back to you. We ended up at the Elms in Allesley and it was terrific. More people than expected turned up and, after a bit of a shuffle, they were able to fit us all in. We had delicious cooked to order meals. After 2 hours, when they needed the tables for the next lot of diners, they found us a large corner chat in. The staff were outstanding and really looked after us well. |

Glad you find somewhere nice to eat in the end and sounds as if they looked after you well. Hope the rest of the trip was good for you. |

The visit was stellar. We peeked at the new Cross, ate in a great Italian restaurant in Earlsdon (da Vinci ?) walked all over town and visited Warwick university. Already planning next years trip. |

Unfortunately, its the weekend my son and family return to Shanghai and having not seen the grandchildren since before lockdown we will be making the most of the time together. I would love to meet up again and get to know every one better. I have been cold turkey with screen time for the past 4 weeks while in France, so I am just catching up with the forum. |
