Thanks to TonyS for this fab idea.... you can now store favourite topics for a quick look-up any time. On the far-right of any topic on the main index page is a tiny button, which if clicked will add that thread to your "Favourite topics" page - you can find the link for that in the toolbar at the top or bottom of any page, next to "Topic categories".
Once on your new "Favourites" page, you can click the button on the right of any thread to easily remove it.
A similar button marked "Add to favourites" is also at the top of each thread, just above the first post on each page. If it's already in your list, it will be marked "Remove from favourites".
The list is stored on your own computer as a cookie, so if these are not enabled you won't be able to save a list, and if your browser history is deleted, your favourites will be too.
Have fun! |

I noticed the addition of a Fav box to the right of each subject in the main topic index. Did I miss the explanation of what this is for? I ticked one but it had no obvious effect. |

Clicking the button (over on the right) should replace the button with a "tick", which will add it to your own Favourite List.
To remove an item from your favourites, first view your list, then click the button at the right-hand end that contains a cross.
Please remember if using a tablet, buttons sometimes require tapping twice in order for the touch to be registered. |

Evenin' all !
Just a quickie to let you all know of a small but hopefully helpful change to this forum. The moderating team have been discussing something for a little while now, which I've just put it into practice this evening.... the amalgamation of the "Non-Coventry" category into the "main" forum.
Previously it had been treated almost like a separate forum, and it was thought that members progressing through the most current threads might be missing some useful or entertaining non-local material.
So, the "Non Coventry" category is still there, to take into account those little things that go over to the dark side, but it's now simply one of the many forum categories, and isn't separated from the flow to be ignored like some embarrassing drunk relative! |

I've been meaning to implement an idea for ages and have finally got round to it....
With so many members now using vastly different sized screens, especially since 'phones and tablets have become so popular, it might be handy to be able to choose how many posts are shown on each page, or how many topics are listed on each page of the index.
So, if you'd like to experiment with these, go into Your profile, and just below your "Personal profile" you'll find "Site preferences", where you can make these changes.
Have fun folks! And a Happy New Year.... nearly! (And if you see any celebrities you care about, please lock them up safely until 2017... far too many have not seen the end of this year!!! ) |

'Like' buttonOn 18th Apr 2017 8:03am, JohnnieWalker said:
Memo to Rob - maybe we need a "Like" button? When LesMac and Kaga send in little gems like these recent ones, I'm forced to spend lots of time thinking of a worthy response, when really a "Like" would probably be acceptable!
Well, I've given it a go... let's see if it works!
Currently, it's a "one way" thing though - one click of the thumbs-up symbol adds a "like" - but it cannot be undone. |

Filter Coventry / non-Coventry topicsIt's new toy time again! Just at the top of the main topic list is a new pair of buttons, which allow members to quickly filter non-Coventry topics, leaving a "Coventry only" list, if preferred. One click of one or other of the buttons will quickly swap between the two choices - simples! |

A-Z topic indexA quick look at the statistics page tells us that the number of posts has declined of late. There could be any number of reasons for that, including the simple fact that nothing remains constant. However, in a small effort to make the forum easier to use, and perhaps more attractive to newcomers who are not so familiar with the huge range of topics that we've discussed over the last seven years, I've added a new way to browse all the threads - a simple A-Z index. The link for it is next to the familiar "Topic index" in the toolbar at the top and bottom of every page, and it replaces the old "categories" link - those are still easily found down the left side of each page. Let's see if this method of browsing will get some of those old, long forgotten threads moving again! |
