Hi linda - the one I posted (and another earlier in this thread) is dated June 1967. Cliff's one appears around the same time. I remember looking down into Bridge Clock Motors in the late 70's from the top deck of the No.23 bus as it travelled along Holyhead Road. I was always looking for interesting cars. There was another filling station next to Bridge Clock - certainly into the 80's when the Alvis was still there but I'm yet to see a picture of it. I think it was a BP? It was where the Mini dealership is today.

I am back on this site after a long break. Does any one have pictures of Rayfield Autos in any of their locations and where did they operate from other than Lower Ford Street? Any pictures and same questions regarding Moorcrofts who operated from Aston's old building. Finally, Coventry Car Centre, Lower Ford Street. Where did they come from? Any pictures? Who operated all of above?

Hi David. Not sure if you've seen it but a lady named Anne Hewitt allowed me share this one that she took and added to Facebook a while ago which I added to the Lower Ford Street thread.

Dean Nelson on FB posted another of the old Coventry Garage pre-demolition. I hadn't realised it ran down to the corner with Spon Street.

I don't remember this one at all but I think it was there in to the 70s. The site later became Homebase (although that in itself has now closed!)

....and we've had some pics of Bridge Clock earlier in this thread - the section on the right - but this is the first time I've seen the bit on the left (even though its a drawing) that's captured what later became a Petrol Station (Esso?)

You can also see Bridge Clock here viewed from Four Pounds Avenue -

Just thinking it's a bit close for Pounds Avenue Neil, do you think it could be the Chain gardens. Unless it's one of those pictures distorted by the camera.

Sorry, but I am confused. If this is in the Holyhead Rd-Four Pounds Ave region shouldn't the 3rd spire be on the right or is the half bottle of Cote de Rhone clouding my memory?

I think that you're right Choirboy. For Greyfriars to be on the left, St Michael's in the middle and Holy Trinity to be on the right, it must be looking from the east? Could it be Terry Road?

I still think its from Four Pounds Avenue. The '3rd' Spire on the left is St Obsburgs.
