If I remember rightly I think the greengrocer was Jackson's. |

Prof,
Poulterers, now that jogs the memory. Coventry's feather pluckers, not easy to say when you have had a few. |

Interesting to see from MR's photo, in comparison to the earlier shot, how roofs, chimney pots and finials have been removed from buildings. |

I have no idea - my guess is that Prof found "Martin's" photo pairing on some other social media site. To be honest, as you all know, I really don't mind my photos being shared around if it helps other people to understand our history - and I know many of our own members are similarly generous sharing their pictures with us all..... but I wouldn't mind betting that Mr. Martin Hill didn't add any credit to say where he nicked those pictures from!
It might be worth re-stating at this point that we all need to be a bit careful when "sharing" photos from other websites, as not everyone is as understanding as we are when they see their own work displayed freely around the internet without permission. We have, in the past, had to remove several images - some after being requested by original owners - others because they were from copyrighted sites. |

Bit late notice I know but I have started attending Wednesday nights at Fargo Village for 'Dub-Club.' Basically its a Customised Car show mainly featuring German Marques but open to anything interesting. Cars have to be pre-booked but it's great to just turn up for a wander around, look at the cars and sample a tap in the Twisted Barrel Brewery! Becoming a really great evening out for free - 7pm till 10pm!

Just a quick shout out - as per my last comment 'Dub-Club' returns for 2020 tonight back at Fargo 7pm - 10pm if anyone is interested. All free - should be some interesting (mainly modified) cars to look at and the Twisted Barrel bar is open! |

Does anybody remember hardware shop called N Gandy or Norman Gandy in Far Gosford St in the 1950s before it was demolished to make way for the new road? |

Hi, I don't remember the hardware shop but here's
a record of it from a 1955 Coventry directory.
No 10 Far Gosford Street.

Another interesting arrival on FB - Thanks to Heathite Frank Harvey (no not the HiFi Shop!) Pork Pies/Bakers were at 74a Far Gosford Street - although that looks like Court 9 to the left which I cannot place on FGS maps?
