I'm always on the look out for books I haven't seen but can never remember what I've got. I'm fairly sure that I haven't seen Coventry in the 30s and 40s. I probably won't be back until the end September so if someone else wants it sooner, I'm happy to miss out. Even the Heritage weekend isn't until September. So if you've still got it and some of David McGrory's books by then I'll be grateful to give them a new home. Smile Thumbs up

In case you're still interested Helen, or anyone else, the lady has told me that she'd be willing to send books individually if someone would just like one or two but not the lot. Please contact me if you'd like one, and I'll put you in touch with her. Thumbs up

I'm trying to locate a book about Coventry history that I read, of all places, in my chiropractor's waiting room. The book was a large paperback, magazine sized, plain white front, with a line drawing of (possibly the old cathedral) on the front. Alas, the title escapes me. I'm positive I had it on my Amazon wish list but can find no trace of it online now. Does anyone know which book I am talking about? Planning on popping into the central library this evening to try and track it down... either that, or I need to make an appointment at the chiropractor haha! Big grin

I think it was mostly writing and sketches. It looked almost as if it had been self-published. Argh, so annoying! I can picture it, but not the title or author!

It looks close but I don't remember there being any colour on the front, it was all black... seem to think it had "old english" type font. That book looks interesting too though! Will add that one to my wishlist. Pretty sure there were poems and various pieces in there about historical events...

I've started mooching through the archaeology books and came across City of Coventry Archaeology and development by Margaret Rylatt. Haven't read it in depth but it contains a map with some of Shelton's excavations marked on, as described in the articles Rob kindly reproduced.

This may already have been mentioned here, but the revised version of this book is being sold off for £1 each at the Central Library ....alongside John Ashby's highly recommended Spon End & Spon Street book - which is £3.
