Ahh, thank you again Anne, I thought the ones in the 1902 film looked a little different from mine. I would have thought they would all have been the same style.

Sadly, the website won't let us "AU"-based viewers see the video!

And it also appears to prove that theirs are very different from the one that I have. Oh my

This is the other side. Apparently the date was wrong because of a postponement but they did not change it

Most people who live in Coventry now, their parents like mine and grand parents mainly don't originate from Coventry, large amounts came to Coventry for work before ww2 and after. In my life I have always listened to oaps who have stemmed from Coventry and each one said there are very few true Coventry people left here now a lot left. 1902 is a long time ago and I suppose like Muffin the Mule its on a rare occasion one of those are found even though it was mass produced.

I have a book called Godiva's Heritage Coventry's History by Albert Smith and David Fry from 1997, there are several photo's from that carnival and it states the year being 1929 with Miss Muriel Mellerrup as Godiva, she came from Dursley in Gloucestershire. The procession passed Cov & Warwickshire Hospital where160 beds had been pushed outside so patients were able to watch it.

I have been looking at a Pathe news reel on Facebook's True Coventarian page and we (couple of my sisters) think we have seen our granny, uncle and a bit of our mum. It's quite exciting to see them. If you have a look then my posts are under a different name although Elaine is one of my real names.

Now the biggest debate in Coventry in the mid-fifties to my mind was about someone wanting to ride topless as Lady Godiva, I believe it had a lot of publicity.
