You're spot on, Luke Margaret M Major, born 1917 in Shropshire, was the daughter of Frederick William Major Thumbs up and Lilian Rosa Robbins, who married in 1908 in Shropshire

Brilliant Anne! Do we know where about it was? Says just over the railway bridge so I'm thinking somewhere on Warwick Road? That's a very early Coventry photo then Big grin

Just found this illustration from that event Anne - the arch looks different unless there's some poetic licence going on? That could be the Railway Hotel in the distance to the left?

Yes Neil it was Warwick Road. There were thousands of people round the station and goods yards. The stands in the picture must have been for the children and the dignitaries. V & A went on towards Stivichall Gate to the end if the grove and to Stivichall Park which had a triumphal arch decorated with evergreens and flowers.

Anyone answer this one? The only 'Chambers' I really know of was Stoneleigh Chambers that was part of the Terrace but the entrance looks different here. I think the sign by the clock reads ************ Smith Ltd with something Diamonds underneath?
