I picked a copy up at the Herbert History Centre last September. It's a reprint from Midland History 1990 Vol XV called The Catesbys in Coventry by N W Alcock. They might send you a copy for a fee if you're not local and can't find another source.
It never fails to amaze me how much info there is out there about Coventry.
The picture on the front of the book is a Dr Troughton sketch and is in the History Centre's collection. |

Walking around Coventry yesterday, I happened upon the rear of the buildings on the west side of Burges, and I could see what looked like a name in the brickwork at the top of one of the buildings
Wasn't sure at first . .
. . so, with some help from Photoshop, I can now see the name "Smarts"
I found that they were furnishers and actually appear across the top of a page in the 1947 Telephone Directory!

The one in the picture doesn't look as if it has the inner black ring although it is not very clear. That one looks more like the one on the Broadgate picture. Would the one on the picture of the tram lines have survived the war?

Nearest match is a Morgan Aero but the front end I think is different. |

If not a Morgan then probably a BSA. The registration mark is from 1929. |

That postcard is terrific Cliff as it really demonstrates the line up from Cross Cheaping going up in to Broadgate |

That must be the clearest photo I've seen looking up the Burges MR. It would make a good before and after. |
