Oh dear, I have to plead guilty to that one, Anne, but I do have a nice place mat on the tray. |

Being honest, Anne,
I've moved up to the top seat, where Pam always sat, so I do have to behave.
I'm ok with most domestics. My Morrison's order arrived at 8am today, spot on, which included their 90p steak & kidney pie with puff pastry. I've ordered two for next week. Along with a plate of veg, it was really good.
Hope you are ok. |

Hi all,
For the first time in seven months, I'm isolating, as I learnt a few hours ago that I had been in brief contact with a positive Covid at the local coffee morning meet.
It's too early for a test, so staying in home until Monday.
My sister-in-law is unable to visit her sister-in-law, who is in a Nuneaton care home because they have cases.
At present I feel fine, even more sad as I've turned company away this evening as one there is vulnerable.
It was going to be a shunt in the goodsyard night. |

Hi all,
A Phily fantasy time story. Are you sitting comfy?
Once up..... No, let me be serious.
Often on Sunday evening, when Pam & I were winding down, maybe coffee in hand relaxing in the railway room, we had easy chairs in there then, no trains running, but looking across the railway, Pam would ask if I had enjoyed myself at Crewe, to which I would give a fictitious reply. I would then ask Pam if she had enjoyed herself in Boscombe. Silly, hey.
There are so many fabulously detailed models on British Railway Modelling, Facebook, that I recently asked if any of the constructors had dreams of their models being real. I'm amazed at the responses. It's not just me.
Sunday just gone, I was sat in the railway room, daydreaming, where I imagined Pam getting off one of the trains to see how I was coping on my own. She couldn't stay long, she was on a works pass-out note, so had to return on the same train.
Fiction yes, but I'm so content, yet that isn't fiction. |

Hi Philip. I'm intrigued that you've got a spring in your garden. Where does the water flow to when you're not using it? |

Hi belushi,
It filled a natural pond for years, but when the grandchildren arrived that was a no no.
The overflow went into a silt sump, before going into a Severn Trent land drain. That continues to this day. Underground 4" piping. The sump is checked every year, and even after this fairly lengthy dry period, it is flowing as free as always. |

Philip. I assume you live in a suburban house somewhere in Holbrooks (?). Do you think you've got the only Coventry house with its own spring? My garden could do with one now! |

Hi Belushi,
The name of where I live is quite a givaway. Holbrooks.
Whilst Coventry is connected to Shustoke reservoir, to provide fresh water to Scots Lane reservoir, Holbrooks pumping station in Watery Lane was for years its main & most abundant supply.
Even the name, Holbrooks, is an evolution of the name Hall Brooks, meaning the four brooks from Keresley that run through Holbrooks. |

I'm going on about the extreme heat, I know, I know, but all chocolate confectionery on the Ringtons delivery vans is being kept at the refrigerated depots. Even if they do try to deliver on Monday.
Ok, no more heat, I will try. Anyone got some ice cream! |

Even so, Philip, there can't be many houses in Holbrooks with their own spring! |

A corner of my garden path. Picture just recorded ten minutes ago.
At the same time, my neighbours new land drain pipe being laid out. Underneath the water is flowing very well. Well!
The area boxed used to be a pond, fed from a natural good quality spring.
