Here's a view of that passageway, looking back to the street.

I can't see it marked as to what it was on any maps I have access to. Anyone got anything? |

Helen posted (#86) a Herbert painting of Star Yard with the wooden tower.

Tweet from the Herbert showing picture of a rare view:
Painted in the 60s, this view didn't last much longer. It looks at the back of the Old Mitre and a stone archway to the south of it on Much Park Street. To the left, some of what remained of the buildings on Star Yard. The building on the far side of the archway was next to the three story half timbered building that now stands on Spon Street. One for Kaga, it shows the last blacksmith's shop in city.

Well remembered, Anne. There are what looks like stables but no explanation for the spire. |

Not remembered, don't do remembering! I had a flick through past posts which very often throws up forgotten ones. I have a little time on my hands at the moment as I'm not on my feet! |

Mick. Or the fishing club HQ?
I think the building was the New Star Inn. |

Looks like it was none of the above!! It closed in 1965. The British Legion occupied the premises in 1967 until their new premises in Spon End were finished.

Helen. Coventry Digital have this one which is the south side of Court 30 - you've probably already seen it. I think Miss Cotton was over the other, north side of that wall - you can see the Brewery Tower in the background.
