What an absolutely fantastic day! I didn't think there were that many people in Coventry let alone Sky Blues fans at Wembley.
From the second the Tube doors opened from the Jubilee Line virtually every person was wearing Sky Blue.
It was one massive party - young and old. My youngest is only ten and had never experienced 40,000+ fans all singing together.
A truly memorable event. I was there in 1987 with my dad and now the roles were reversed - and I'm sure my dad was in Sky Blue Heaven! The holders, Coventry City, quietly exited this season's competition at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night - in front of just 1,429 spectators
Having 'been there and won it' last season MR, I'd like to think the priorities this season are promotion from L2 and maybe progression to the 3rd round of the FA Cup and the chance to generate some well-needed revenue
On the subject of pitiful crowds in the EFL Trophy competition (I think that's the correct name this season), it was interesting to read that Sunderland Under 21's who played away at Grimsby this week were cheered on by 7 supporters, one of whom was a Leeds United supporter who accompanied his Sunderland supporting grandfather. So maybe our crowd of 1,429 wasn't so bad after all? |

Of course you're quite correct about priorities for the club - Bantams were only in Division Four for one season and it is hoped that Sky Blues' stay at that level is for a similar time
A victory in the 2nd round of the FA Cup, followed by a "plum draw", is to be hoped for too - that's why the attendance level for the Maidenhead United game will no doubt be far exceeded by the clamour for tickets should such a tie come about in the third round - it will be interesting to see the figures for the Boreham Wood game
The EFL Cup remains a bit of a nonsense, and there is little wonder that crowds are so low in such a competition - although it brought such happiness to supporters as recently as April |

Well-done, Sky Blues, on reaching the 3rd round of the FA Cup today, in front of a crowd of 2,985 (595 away) at the Ricoh Arena.
No doubt a few more will be hoping for tickets if the plum draw arises!
It shows just what SISU have done to the club - and of course, if a plum draw does occur, it will be extra funds going into their pockets
But it would be good for the long-suffering supporters

. . . so that was just the kind of occasion where they needed a good result. Lots of kids went home yesterday thinking they might be better off supporting a Premiership team |

You are quite right. Unfortunately, City are notorious for choking on those occasions that they have a big crowd at home, especially after a good run of results. The huge crowd on Saturday was down to cheap/free tickets, but City had won seven home games on the trot too. Cue an awful performance. As a friend said, we could have written the script.
Saturday was my first game at the Ricoh for almost two years. It may be another two before we go again.

This attendance figure is interesting. A friend of mine attended the game and he reckoned there were only about 22,000 actually there. Is this right? Worrying if it is, as that means maybe only 4,000 of the free children's tickets were used.
Next time the City wanted to set a new attendance record they could offer free tickets to 25,000 Siberian reindeer herders, and even if they didn't turn up they would still be counted! |

Belushi, I think you are correct. We were on the balcony in the posh seats. The two ends were the areas where free tickets were distributed and they were certainly not full. The stadium holds 32000, and my guess would have been around 24000 were there. I know they include season ticket holders whether they attend or not, as they have paid for their seats. But I'm not sure they can do that for when freebies are distributed. Far too many gaps for 28000.
It would have been interesting to see how many were left at the final whistle. The last 15 minutes looked like a fire drill, and I reckon there were well under 10000 left at the end. |

Mediator appointed in Ricoh sale row - link
Still can't understand how this is even going again. When it started SISU/Otium etc were arguing that the price being asked by CCC was too high as the stadium was 'worthless'. Now they're arguing it was sold for undervalue despite the fact Wasps paid a higher price than SISU originally offered (and then reneged on). So you can dismiss their claim based solely on their own original argument. |

It's great to see that there will be over 35000 City supporters travelling to Wembley tomorrow to see us play Exeter City in the League 2 play-off final. Let's hope this could be the start of the club's revival after so many years in the doldrums. |
