That was Garlicks yard on the right of the first photo who were eventually taken over by Clements plant hire.

Garlicks were taken over by the Deeley group in the mid 70's. Clements plant hire, who I worked for at that time were part of the Deeley group and still are, to the best of my knowledge.
After this Peter Deeley gradually wound down the Garlicks sites, this one and Crabmill Lane which was the plant yard.

Thanks for that Vaughan, as we discussed before I just remember the Gould's ended up working for Clements and forgot that Deeley's owned the lot.

I recently passed on the photo in post #4 on FB to a lady called Patricia Parr as ASL was mentioned - she has pinpointed the image for us - to the right is gardens of Oxford St past the houses on the left is the stable yard at the back of the Pitts Head pub.

Gray Forster on FB has come up with some more rarities - this time very late images (not that there are many in any era at ground level!) of All Saints Lane late 80's. This was not long before it was all cleared before the building of Sky Blue Way. The backs of the houses visible on Oxford Street. The second image is almost the same view as my one in post #5!

I might need to move this one as I think it might be West Street as opposed to All Saints Lane - but here for now as there is no current West Street thread - our members can help me confirm here please! Its interesting as its looking West over Garlicks Yard - thats the back of the BTH works on Lower Ford Street in the centre and the side of what was the old Premier Works which bordered Read Street/South Street to the right (does anyone recall what it was around this time?)

It looks like the end of the lane in the first photo above, so the very end of All Saints' Lane? I think that the corrugated iron go round what was previously 46, 44 and 42 South Street (see 1950) the photos were before 1954, when a factory had been built.
