Local Shows

I don't normally go for anything that might be construed as self-promotion. However, I'm involved in a project that some of you might find enjoyable in September. Local musician, Simon Gibbons, has written a mini "Rock Opera" about the Coventry Blitz, based largely on the exploits of his granddad and family, who saw action here at home and in Italy. The story unfolds, song-by-song, and includes music of various styles, taking in rock, blues, folk, rock 'n' roll and even a bit of reggae. The official poster is just below, and beneath is a montage taken at a local recording studio last week - which Simon modestly kept himself out of! You can find me bottom right, hittin' stuff! That show above.... it's happening again! And a lot sooner than we expected! Plans were for another five months of rehearsals, and put on the show from June, but a couple of weeks ago the Criterion Theatre in Earlsdon got in touch with Simon to say that they'd been let down by another show pulling out, so they had a free week in early February and would we like to fill the gap? Well, Simon didn't want to sound ungrateful and turn down such an opportunity, so we're rehearsing like mad three times a week, getting props together, and generally panic stations all round! The tickets are £12.50 for non-members, and are available direct from the Criterion's website. It'll be lovely to see any of you there, folks!
