It's supposed to be 1849 although that doesn't agree with the closest map to that time. Even Priory Street and the bridge didn't exist but if the map took a few years to be published it could fit. |

Thanks to the great latest Cov Archive additions (c). There are not many colour images that capture any of the old baths.

It looks like there is the walls of a bridge either side of the road. It is difficult to see what the workmen are doing, there is definitely a cart there. |

Priory Street, laid out by Thomas Cope Esq, leading from the east end of Priory Row across the River Sherbourne to Ford Street, together with the bridge erected over the Sherbourne upon the line of the said street was completed in 1862, although plans were being submitted for 4 houses in 1859, but work had to be done to construct sewers. |

Apols for the delay in posting this one but on my walk into town for the Xmas Forum breakie I took the opportunity to inspect the old wall remains hidden to the side and below the road which now form a retaining wall for the Poly/Uni. I think they must have formerly been basement walls to either part of the old terraced row or even from the old Triumph works.

They've even got bricked up little doorways. Well spotted Neil. I've only ever walked on the other side of the road. |

Yes, Helen, there is even some latch remains/ironworks protruding from the brickwork. One for your next visit. |

Sorry to report that the old Lanch Poly entrance building, seen here on the right, has just been demolished.

Slightly confused by this one as Priory Halls didn't go up until 1966 but I thought Ringway Swanswell/Whitefriars was later... Thanks to Gray Forster on FB -

Following my earlier post#21 - interesting to see this image which has appeared on FB. I don't think its a CD image so not sure where it originates from but another showing what would've been bricked up elements of the old Triumph works turned in to a lined wall once the Cathedral had gone up -
