Hi, I just recently found out that my great grandfather nine times was from Coventry, Warwickshire, England and my great grandmother nine times was from Warwickshire, England. My grandfather was Nathaniel Hall and grandmother was Mary Wilcox. They came to America in the early 1600's and settled in or around Concord, Mass. I was looking at your site and found it to be very interesting and look forward to reading more. Sincerely, Richard Hall

Hi everyone, for something to do, I was looking at old last messages from topics at the back of the forum. In the last seven and a half years since the above message was posted we have come on leaps and bounds in both growth in numbers of members and their invaluable investigative contributions, and access to historic information. Is there anyone who can now help Richard in his quest? As one of the original members, he probably hasn't viewed the forum for some considerable time so anyone who might be able to assist should probably make contact through the direct button first. Just a thought. Thumbs up

I think the original post remains unanswered because if Richard's grandparents emigrated in the 1600s, they must have access to a time machine. Seriously though, records from the 17th century that can positively identify this couple are unlikely to have survived.

Wearethemods - thanks for taking the time and trouble to make the post above - it's something we as a team (and probably other members too) do keep an eye on, and sometimes we do try to bring them onto the list of current threads by posting a similar comment. There is a concern, however, about trying to make contact with the originator (o p) of an old post, where he/she has not posted (or visited) the forum either since them or for some considerable time - there may be a reason for their absence which we are not aware of, and which needs to be respected. Highlighting old unanswered threads is to be encouraged, in the hope that the o p may see the thread reopened and decide to respond in some way, but it is felt that that direct contact should be discouraged, unless it is known that the o p is still an active forum member. As moderators, we have access to such information, so if anyone wishes to contact a member and wishes to check with us whether they are still active on the forum, then do not hesitate to ask. Thumbs up
