Hi folks! With so many people asking so many questions about Coventry's colourful past, it seemed to me that the best answer would be a forum on the website, so anyone can join in to ask questions, answer other questions, or simply reminisce about things that have occurred down the years. It's the first time I've ever attempted to build a forum, so if you're unsure about anything, or if something doesn't work as it should, either try the Help page, or contact me in the usual way to let me know what's not working, and I'll try to mend it! So, over to you - feel free to start new topics or respond to old ones... and then sit back and wait for someone to respond. All the best, and thank you for the wonderful support you've all given me with Historic Coventry! Rob

Rob. Do you know when Whitefriars will be open for the public to look round? It wasn't open last Heritage day and I would love to see inside. Thanks, Jason.

Hi Jason, I wish I knew myself - it would be great to see more of that ancient building. As far as I know it belongs to The Herbert, and I think they only use it for storage, so it's a bit wasted really. I'm sure that many other folk, like us, would like to see it put to better use.

Hello Rob. What a brilliant idea this is! And, as usual, you've made yet another outstanding addition to an already fantastic site. I don't get onto it half as much as I'd like to, but every time I do, it never ceases to amaze me. Any Coventry kid, no matter where he or she lives, can now glean, (extract), so much information from the one comprehensive site. Even if one is not from Coventry, it is just so interesting to read. Oh, how much more interesting "history" could have been when I was a schoolboy at good old "Freddie Bird's", Swan Lane, had this site and the technology been available then. Excellent job, Rob. Best wishes, Brian. (Melbourne, Australia).

Thank you too, Neil - you've really touched me and made me feel proud. To be honest, I still regard this website as just a great hobby - something to keep me busy in the evenings. And let's face it, there's not a lot on the telly nowadays to keep me away from the computer.... apart from the kids - and their homework - and a bit of DIY - and building bicycles - and taking photographs..... but apart from all that....!!!!! Seriously though, it's a wonderfully rewarding hobby, mainly because of the amazingly kind people, like yourself, who I get to 'chat' with. So a huge 'thank you' to you and everyone else, too. All the best, Rob

I thought I had better say hi. It looks like I have taken over the forum judging by my number of posts but they are just responses to discussions going on here. I was born in Corley Moor in 1962 & went to Corley, Fillongley, Herbert Fowler & Bablake Schools. When I married we lived in Rowleys Green & Sewall Highway before moving to Berkshire in 1994. This website is a fabulous resource & I am really enjoying reading the articles. I hope my posts do not drive you all away! Regards John

Hello John Wave It's in the nature of message boards that it sometimes looks as if only one person is posting. You get used to it after a while. Smile

Welcome aboard John, nice to hear from you. Thumbs up And don't worry about 'hogging' the forum.... like Dutchman says, it's just the way it can look sometimes, and you'll soon see your posts get buried under a mountain of other stuff on here! Lol Have fun, Rob

Maybe I should have formally introduced myself to this site when I discovered it back in mid July as did JohnB, perhaps I would have not have (largely speaking) been ignored with the topics I'd posted. Perhaps my recollections and questions aren't interesting enough!!!!????
