Such a shame that the Griffin has gone. There was a little row of cottages to the rear of the pub. In 1963, when I was 15, I had a beautiful girlfriend, Linda who lived there. Strange to think of the passing of so much time. Wonderful memories of the skating rink, snooker hall, Saracens and the Ritz.

Old photos of Longford and power station, gas etc. Note the photo of Hurst Road flooding on here. On another link, states the Brays farm was on the right by the fence down Hurst Road.

A forum member has asked me to scan some old photos and post them on here, in the hope that they may be of interest - perhaps a member recognises themself or a relative or friend, or can just put names to some of the faces No.1 No.2 No.3 No.4 No.5 No.6

That I am sure is Windmill Road School in 2nd photo, Longford Park beyond the railings. Also some more Longford kids at the old Grange Hurst prior to it being demolished. This was taken around 1976 , the teacher in the centre was Mrs Wright or White, I cannot recall exactly, my son was in this photo as it was his class teacher who was lovely I must say. Last year I saw her at Salem Church, not changed a bit. Sorry about photo not being very clear.

Can you give me a rough idea of the years these photos were taken please? My grandmother came from Longford, so, there's a chance either her or her brothers/sisters could be on them.

As for the family members mentioned above: Colin Sephton lived in Woolgrove Street (off Windmill Road), and Clara Sephton was the daughter of Walter Sephton who ran the Boat Inn (Black Horse Road) for nearly fifty years.
My mum recognised the name Colin Sephton, her family lived in Windmill Rd, their name was Collins
