It does seem a quite confusing time as the constituencies were ever changing. I think during that time period it would have been in Coventry North Until 1945 Coventry was a single constituency Since then: Coventry East 1945-1974 Coventry West 1945-1950 (likely to include Bablake) Coventry North 1950-1974 (included Bablake) Coventry South 1950 -1974 and 1997-present Coventry South East 1974-1997 Coventry South West 1974-1997 Coventry North East 1974-present Coventry North West 1974-present (includes Bablake ward)

I have a 72 page book entitled "Keresley Past - Present & Future'. It's dated September 1946. This contains stories of old Keresley, poems, adverts, and plans for the future. The fold out map in the centre shows the planned development of a community centre. For those of you that know the area, the development covers the fields bordered by Penny Park Lane, Bennetts Road South, and Watery Lane curving back round to Penny Park. In here was to be built a school, a welfare hall, a pool, a bowls green, football pitches a running track, tennis courts, a garden area, and allotments behing Edward Road. Sadly none of which came to pass. I will try and put a copy on here if I can.

A good friend of mine, whilst looking through some old family papers, came across a cutting from the Telegraph, regarding the death of his uncle and a friend whilst riding a motorbike. This was June 24 1935, 80 years tomorrow. The article states that the incident took place at Moss's Lane, which was in the vicinity of Sandpits Lane. Now I know where Sandpits Lane is but not Moss's Lane - can anyone help me please.

Back in 2003, a lady posted this on the CET: Does anyone remember the Tatton family, of what was then called Moss Lane and is now Sandpits Lane?

Not too sure exactly what year this photo was taken (possibly early 1960's?), but it shows a Corporation bus standing at the Keresley Road terminus, directly outside the front door of the Shepherd and Shepherdess pub. The exact spot where the bus is standing is now a beer garden full of tables & seating (and stacks of England fans too yesterday!) and in the background is where the car park is now!

On 7th Dec 2013 11:24am, Baz said: As this thread is talking about the pubs etc around Keresley. Maybe I should add this. The Old Hall on Tamworth Rd was originally known as Coundon Villa. It became a residential property in the 19th century, and owned by a ribbon manufacturer. The change came in 1947, when the Northampton Brewery Company purchased it, with intentions of turning it into a Hotel. It was in the 1960's that major alterations were done, and it was turned into a Pub / Steakhouse. After the fire a couple of years ago, the Old Hall has become empty. A new roof was fitted to protect what was left, but it has an uncertain future. Planning permission was not granted to turn it back into a hotel and after an initial show of work going on with a new fence, roof and garden work being carried out. This grade II listed building has now remained left and empty for a couple of months. The out-buildings are also empty and the whole area looks un-loved. Let's hope the present owner can find a use for it before it becomes too far gone to save.. Sad

It was the place to dine on our Special Day in Oct 1961 as we held our wedding reception there. We thought it was a beautiful building even then.

Good afternoon all, I hope we're all safe and not too bored! I have a request from someone who is trying to put together their wartime memories - does anyone know, or can find out, when Wallace Road was bombed? He's fairly certain it was after the Rex was bombed in August 1940, but before the April 1941 raids. A gold star and big tick for whoever can help! Wink

There is a death announced in the CET of a husband, wife and child who passed away suddenly on 16th September 1940. There is also thanks from the family for help from the neighbours, ARP wardens, etc. So this could be the date. I won't post the family name but they lived at 67 Wallace Road.
