Find it hard to believe that no one has done any rambling in the past year. Mick Strong

I'm not sure how a ramble is defined. Is it a certain distance or the roughness of the terrain? I notched up a few castles, priories and Roman forts. |

Hi all,
When I started this thread, I was twelve years younger than I am now. I now no longer drive, plus lockdown curtailed activity as well as my Pam's terminal illness tied me to the spot.
I'm out & about a bit more now, mostly revisiting previously discussed locations.
Warmer weather might be what's needed. |

My wife reckons I ramble a lot. Not sure she is talking about walking though.Mick Strong

Got a small ramble planned for next week. "The Solent Way". 60 miles from Milford on Sea to Emsworth Harbour.
Leaving Coventry midday Sunday and returning Friday night.
Rucksack and tent are packed ready for the off.

We'll be in this lovely area in June when we visit our oldest friends who live in Lymington. Have a wonderful time, Mick. |

Sounds a bit of hard work Mick but I am sure you will enjoy it. Lovely part of the country, My grandparents used to live in Highcliffe so spent many holidays round there. |

This reminded me of a Lymington Castle when I was living down the road from the castle in New Zealand. The owners had a ostentation of peacocks, which flew around the area and often landed in other gardens. I loved seeing them but they were very noisy birds which disturbed some of the neighbours. Here's a link to Lymington Castle |

Hi Lindatee, got back last night after a good week.
Lymington was a great place and I can highly recommend "Mines a Pasty" at number 9 the High Street. Great coffee.Mick Strong

Thanks for the recommendation, Mick, We'll be there in a couple of weeks. We've had great meals in some of the pubs there too. |

Love reading these old posts, and was going to post some of my 40 odd years of experiences.
But came across Philips post number 45 and the picture of his fish & chips that he paid £4.50 for.
Could not resist going on the shops website for a current price for the same meal.
Today, it is advertised at £12.40p !!! Mick Strong

Hi Mick,
Thank you so much for your comment.
I can't wait for our rail services to be up & reliably running. On a parallel line to that, the line that runs to Stratford & passes through Shirley, there's a butchers shop that sells mostly pre-cooked meat of all descriptions, including the most scrumptious hot sausage batches.
I'm hungry thinking about them.
Anyone with a West Midlands issued bus pass, can travel by train free. |

Hi Philip.
I have my West Midlands pass, used mostly from Tile Hill Station to the NEC and back. First time I used it I had to pay at the NEC because I was too early.
Often wondered exactly how far you are allowed to travel when using it. Do you know the limits? Mick Strong
