Hi, I'm trying to find out information about an address I live in in Earlsdon Avenue North, if anyone has any information about properties in this area, like when houses were built, people who lived in properties etc. I'd be very grateful, it's a certain property I'm trying to find out about - thank you.

The North Earlsdon Neighbourhood Association has organised a picnic next Sunday at Spencer Park to accompany the concert by the Warwick Wind Orchestra. They are celebrating 100 years since the building of most of the houses in that neck of the woods and will also be consulting on restoration / redevelopment of the park. Bill Dunn of the Earlsdon Research Group has put together a small exhibition about the history of Spencer Park and anyone who has photos of the park from the past is invited to bring them along and also memories of the park will be recorded if you so wish. The fun starts at 2:30pm NENA's website can be found here

Hi to all reading, I have lived in Earlsdon for 18 months, I have been told that my house has the spirit of a little girl in it (Victorian time). I have been told that the little girl went out playing, fell down a well and drowned, I'm not too sure if this story is true or even if I do have the spirit of a little girl in my house. My 12 year old daughter has seen white lights from the corner of her eye, so I'm trying to find out if there is or has been a well that may have been covered up, in the Victorian times. If there is I'm going to try and research to see if a little girl actually did live in my house all those years ago. If anyone knows anything about this, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have recently found out that a well was discovered in a factory yard a few years ago in Moor Street, Earlsdon, does anyone know of any other wells?

Earlsdon Street, 3.10 am last Wednesday in the sleety rain we had. When there's no cars parked up it's amazing how wide that street is and one can almost imagine the trams using it Thumbs up

Here's a picture of Kendall's delicatessen around the time it was first built in 1852 - by my great great great great grandfather Henry Bates for his son Alfred.

And here's a photo of the same building later and changed hands when it had been converted to a bakery by Buckinghams - who were still trading in the 1960s as can be seen in the second photo on this thread.

Hi all, & Hi Greeny Wave I knew a Bill Buckingham. He & his family were members of a church where I was organist. I know he was a baker & had a business in Coventry, but no more than that. He bought one of my mum's cars off her in the fifties. An upright Ford Popular, as I used to call them. Wave

What a smashing selection of photograph's Thumbs up I loved the baker's shop window with the phone number and an advert for 'Bermaline Bread', which I have never heard of. I looked it up and appears to have been a 'healthy, malty, loaf'. Bermaline Bread

Great pictures. Of particular interest to me as I live in (and love) Earlsdon. Would be a difficult place to move away from.

I worked in Earlsdon Street from 1960 -1962 at the Sketchley Dry Cleaners shop. I think the gents outfitters Michael Kays was next door or next door but one. I have really fond memories of Earlsdon as that is where I met my late husband. He was living in Moor Street at the time and had noticed me in the shop and kept strolling by and catching my eye. He eventually plucked up the courage to ask me for a date, much to my relief. We were married for 41 years until his death seven years ago. His father was born in the Royal Oak pub and his grandfather was the licensee. I think you can still see the name Mayo on the side wall of the pub. Cheers
