I ask that we pause for a moment today to remember PC Peter Charles Guthrie, who was shot and killed whilst attending a burglary at a gun shop in Far Gosford Street on 22nd July 1972 - fifty years ago today.
Let this sad anniversary serve as a reminder to of us all that serving police officers leave their homes and families, never really knowing if they will return.
