My first question I asked on forum in 2010 was if anyone knew a John and Doris Clark nee (Collins), they lived at Tile Hill and worked at Bushills, as I was trying to find them for my wife as she was her bridesmaid in the late 50s.

Isn't it a small world. I knew Doris when we were both tots and living in Lime Tree Ave, Tile Hill. She may have been just a little older as it looks as if she was married before I was. If you are out there Doris, I hope you have been as lucky in life as I have. Good luck Dougie. I hope you can catch up with her, and it is so true - you can take a girl out of Coventry but . . . Thumbs up

Same here Dreamtime, thanks for your reply we would love to met up with them again sometime, that's if they are still around as they will be 77/78 now, you never know what life has in store for you, we've tried many times over the years to find them through our family members living in Coventry with no luck Sad they could be living anywhere in the world as far as we know. Anyway they made a very nice couple when we knew them in the 60s, they did come up to Wigan to visit but at that time it wasn't that easy to keep in touch even by phone

If you are lucky enough to catch up Dougie, ask her if she remembers Margaret Rice, another one of our little playmates. We all lived in the same street. Wave Do you know, I remember those days as if they were yesterday. Happy Thank the Lord I have a good memory but ask me where I left the tea towel then I have to backtrack! Wave

I know it's a long shot Dreamtime but this could put the HC Forum members to the test Blush, as you've put the name of the street you both lived in as children I've looked on Google Streets it's a bit of a POSH area round there you never know she may have inherited her mothers house and still live there do you know the number, when we go to the crem at Christmas we'll have a look round you never know, I asure you they would both be glad to see us after all this time

Hi Dougie, I am more than sure we used to live at 42 Lime Tree Avenue, and my father used to nickname me Leslie Welch because I had a good memory, so I am hoping I can be of help to you there. Again, I am sure Doris lived over the road and just a little way further up there was little shop on the corner - Taskers. Not there now though. There were so many 'little shops on the corner' in those days. Now there's an introduction to a new topic. Who remembers the little shop on their corner?

Dreamtime, just to tell you after all this time I found Doris from Lime Tree Ave. In fact the wife is on the phone right now having a good chat. She is keeping well, told her about you and you're still going strong.

Dougie, who would have thought after all these years and so lucky for you, you found your friends again. We were the Toselands who lived opposite in those days and the Rices or rather the father ran a milk round from his home a little further up from the Collins. Billie and Margaret Rice being the brother and sister. A Mrs Neal (her daughter being Christine) ran a sort of day care nursery just a few houses away from ours and I attended there before starting school. he world is definitely getting smaller Dougie. Thank you for letting me know and I am so glad she is well as I sincerely hope you all are in this maddening crisis. Thumbs up

This was my every first post on the guestbook, 2010. He may not remember but Rob invited me to join the Historic Coventry Forum to ask the same question again, only a few on in those days. I have bumped it up to try again as the members increased Big grin In the end some 10 years later it took a Wiganer to find them for me. We are happy now.

It might be 10 years, but I actually do remember the first time you contacted me Dougie. It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance, and a bigger pleasure meeting you for real in town a few years ago. (And the bottle of plonk was much appreciated, too, thank you! Wink )
