I am Arthur's great-great niece. He was my granddads (Reginald) uncle. I also know Loz, we were at his 50th birthday party earlier this year (he is nutty!). As mentioned before, I have the family bible which was started with Arthurs family.
I would love to know where the VC medal is, it must be somewhere! All other VC's for Warwickshire are held in museums etc. Arthurs is 'not publically held'. I would too just like to know it is safe.

Hi Leanne, the private collector with the biggest collection of VC's and accompanying medals is Lord Ashcroft. It is quite feasible he owns it as he has bought them at auction for decades. The websites lordashcroftmedals.com or lordashcroft.com might help. He has a large collection now on display at the Imperial War Museum visit iwm.org.uk/heroes or Twitter @LordAshcroft Hope you find it |

Thank you, I have checked Lord Ashcroft's medal collection but he does not have it.
I have heard that it was passed to Arthurs wife who then passed it down to their daughter. Apparently she still has it, she is in her 90's now but it will stay in the family down that line. As far as we know it is 'down south' somewhere and no longer in Coventry. I would like to trace it and one day hopefully see it!

As usual, looking for something else on the British Newspapers archive site I came across this picture. It is not very clear as it is a newspaper print. There is quite a long article with it which among other things says that he was presented with £250 of War Bonds. The article is too long to insert here but if anyone would like a copy please contact me. The date of the article was 14th Januray 1918.

Hi, I'm a relative, my nan's name is Jean Barnett, I don't really know much more as only just started talking about family history. As far as I know and what I've asked her no one knows what happened to his medals. I'm from Tile Hill, Coventry |

There is this framed picture of Arthur Hutt on the wall in The Bear and Ragged Staff (Wetherspoon's) in Bedworth.
My grand aunt Lucy Oldham married Arthur Hutt's brother Bertie in 1912. They had three daughters all of whom died before the age of 8. Bertie Hutt died in the trenches on Christmas Day 1917.
There is a beautiful post dedicated to him on the Arthur Hutt VC Appreciation Group Facebook page. It was posted by Nathan who has posted on this forum. |
