On the main Historic Coventry site, there is a photograph of The Home Guard, and mention of "Bill Navin" His name has recently appeared in the Coventry Telegraph regarding whether he would receive a greeting from The Queen on his 100th birthday, and this article shows that he will do Cheers Some good news for a change Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing that MR. Dr Navin was our Doctor for many years, his practice was on the corner of Swan Lane. Both me and my sister have been interested to see if he was still alive. The most recent article I could find was from about 4yrs ago. Thanks. Thumbs up Now find out if Mr Bannister, our form teacher at "Freddies" is still alive. I know he was up to about 2yrs ago when someone in hospital told me he had seen him striding out up by Watery Lane. Wink

Thank you MR. Dr Navin was our family doctor and I attended his surgery on the corner of Swan Lane and Walsgrave Road for more than 20 years. He was the works' doctor for the GEC, in the days that you had a medical when you started work, and he also worked for the police. Oh my I was interested to read of his war work. Thumbs up

I am not sure scrutiny if this is the same Mr. Bannister who taught at my school, on the left of photo, if so this Mr Bannister went from Copthorne and went on to PK school. I was informed he died by Paul who started Copthorne school site.

Thanks Morgana, but my Mr Bannister was my form teacher in 1963 at Freddies. After Freddies closed he went to Sidney Stringer and retired from there. I cannot recall his first name but I think it might be John. Wave

I was delighted to read that MR. I never had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Navin but from all accounts he appeared to be a very nice man. Thank you for the link. Wave
