Hello Midland Red, from KRAMER97013 CANBY OREGON USA.
Your Famous Coventrians is interesting. Have you heard of or know someone named KENDRICK in the Fire Brigade. There was one response that furthered that KENDRICK maybe was the 3rd officer of the Fire Brigade. Anyway this forum is very interesting. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. |

A familiar face on TV is the appropriately named Sara Blizzard who presents the weather on BBC East Midlands. Born in Coventry in 1970, she is also an actress and has just appeared in the BBC drama "The White Queen" as a lady in waiting. She is also the "voice" of the Traffic Master system. |

Earlier this year I got involved (in a minor way) in research about a Coventry church organist who made quite a name for himself in the USA.
Norman Coke-Jephcott spent most of his life in the USA as one of their most respected church organists.....
Hopefully some of you will recall the brief discussion quoted above, which can be found on this page. Well, you might be pleased to know that Norman Coke-Jephcott's great-nephew, Roger Jephcott, has written a detailed article about his life.
Roger has allowed me to make this article available to you all, and so it's my pleasure to include it among the Members' articles section of the site.
(It's in PDF format so should be readable on virtually all computers. If you require a PDF reader for Windows I can highly recommend the compact and quickly downloaded Sumatra PDF as a superior alternative to the bloated Adobe programme.)
I hope you enjoy it.... |

I must to admit to having forgotten about the research about Norman Coke-Jephcott. Roger had contacted the Rev. Andrew Gandon, the Vicar of Exhall, who knew that I was looking after the St. Giles/Ash Green archive put together over many years by the local post master Keith Dudley.
I got interested as our property in Ash Green had been built in the 1930s by a Mr Jephcott who was the manager of Anslows in Coventry. This turned out to be a red herring but I managed to find a few references relating to the Coke-Jephcotts.
I had spent months researching the Bedworth family of Topp who were well known organ builders in the Victorian period through to the 1930s. There may well be a post somewhere on the forum about the Topps.
As part of that research I got in touch with a local historian in New York State in the US. Peg Masters from the Town of Webb had helped me with tracing a member of the Topp family who had lived in the Ultica area as had Norman. Peg was able to help Roger with his research and yet again proved that the world can be a very small place at times.
It is very satisfying to know that the story of a Coventry man is now complete. |

'?Who do you think you are' tonight is Nitin Ganatra who plays Masood in Eastenders. He came to Coventry when he was 4, went to Coundon Court School. His family still have a shop in Coundon.

What about Caman Silvera of Hello Hello fame and Compact, I think she was a Coventry girl, she used to live in East St, Hillfields (cannot be sure I have said the name right).
That's correct, the Silveras had a grocery shop on the corner of East Street and I think it was called Spring Street, now called Vauxhall Street, in the early 60s |
