A few names and memories in the post from Binky11. Ted Dinan signed my indentures and I worked on the bench with Dennis Wells at the 'Nuff'. Dennis Frith was in the same apprentice intake as myself in 1959. I'm sure that he won't mind me saying that his Dad Ralph Frith was the 'bookies runner' at the 'Nuff' in between being a toolroom miller (nice man, always liked Ralph). I seem to remember Harry Charlton transfering to the 'Nuff' as a Foreman or did he become the Superintendant. Any one remember Tony Whitehead in the training school, Tony was my best man back in 1966.

On 6th Feb 2014 2:40pm, Harrier said: Would anyone have any information about Oswin George Varney, coming to the end of his woring life in the late 50s early sixties (at a caslculated guess), please? I asume in was in management (at the Morris). He probably lived in the Leamington area? Sorry it is so vague!
My grandpa! In fact, he retired in 1970,. at the ripe old age of 75, when they gave him a travel alarm clock for his long service to the company. I am not sure what you need to know, but if I can help, please give me a shout!

Have scanned through posts. I worked at Morris from 1969 till 1973/4 I think. I Remember Dennis Wells and particularly Danny Mullen who was very kind to me. As an apprentice I worked with him for around six months after various altercations with folks at the Apprentice School. So Les, send Danny my best regards, I send my apologies for not keeping in contact, something I regret. Other names I remember Ted Cockle? who worked on bench opposite Danny's & Bob Meehan. I also worked at Durbar Avenue for around 6 months with Bert Wood, spent a lot of time in the mists of the valve stem grinding shop. Seem to remember the Cole brothers worked there as fitters. & some one there was a keen & witty photographer. I ended up machining taxi cylinder heads, got cheesed of & found a job over the cut at AH red lane. Thanks for posting the photo's willl stay tuned Roger Barham

Hello Everyone! What a great thread ! My Dad, Stan Young, worked at the Morris in the Toolroom for the best part of 50 years, apart from the time he spent in the RAF through WWII. I remember him taking me to play Billiards at the Club, we also went to lots of concerts there with my Mum. He used to run the Tote in the Toolroom and knew everyone, He played Piano in all the local Pubs and Clubs. One Lunch time He brought Basil Heatley's Olympic Medal Home to show me. He also brought Blueprints home to show me, I eventually ended up doing my Apprenticeship and went on to be a Toolmaker at Chrysler UK in Ryton. Both of my Grandads were Toolmakers, it runs in the Family. Sadly my Dad passed away in 2004. I'm sure someone here must remember him, he had tons of mates at the Morris. Cheers then !! Peter. Cheers

Hi everyone. Great photos. I remember the office block so well. I worked at the Morris 1976 to 1980 as a business apprentice. I worked as part my apprenticeship in the tool stores in J block for three months at the age of 18. What a shock! But best life training I could ever have. I worked with Les And Ida. I remember Monty the union rep. Fantastic memories of the place
