Having recently read of the death of Keith Jones, I am reminded of the Godiva Car Club, that used to be in Cox Street.
I remember Bob Aston who used to drive a two stroke SAAB at ridiculous speeds, when asked how he had modified the engine his reply was "take one big file".
Another member was Codger Malkin who kept a garage on the Emscote Rd and his son Colin who became a well known Rootes works rally driver.
I remember Graham Robson, who was one of the top navigators in the country. He went on to become a motoring journalist and author. It was he who brushed up my navigating skills and showed me how to cut and fold an ordnance survey sheet so you could plot your map references on the move in the car
