Hi all, hi Mark,
Growing up in Sewall Highway, the Devon end, I can still hear my mum's voice ringing in my ears, "Don't go near the canal", as she knew that I often wandered along to Red Lane, then along the public footpath towards Stoney Stanton Rd, to see what if anything was happening in the Bell Green yard. A bit of trespassing then, as I walked the Morris side of the Coventry avoiding line, back to the Morris park, or the Moggie as it was known. I occasionally saw vans being shunted along the two parallel sidings that buffered at Blackberry Lane entrance to the park. Super D 0-8-0 tender locos were most regular, as they squealed around the yard curves. You have just taken me back over sixty years as I picture these goings on in my memories.

Thanks very much, yes been around there, would love to get ones of where it crossed Red Lane. Been down there but no trace now due to Waterman Rd being built. It was a through line from Websters crossing, Stoney Stanton Rd.
The peace house is where the signal box was. In theory you could use that line to go from near Kingfield Rd all the way through the Ordnance Works to the loop line. University of Central Lancashire

I came across this 1941 book yesterday ("QUESTIONS FOR ENGINEMEN"), which was sitting in a container full of old Train Books and Annuals, that once belonged to a late friend of mine. From what I remember, I think he said that he was given the book back in the 1950's, by somebody who worked in the Engine Shed at Coventry. It contains some really interesting information in it and surprisingly, even some fold out diagrams / drawings to !

Yes it is Morris Engines. For my sins I pressed the button blowing up the tall chimney after demolition of the closed plant in 1983 Roger Burdett

I travelled Kenilworth to Leamington today. I went out on the 09:44 which seem to about half enthusiasts and half locals. The return on the 14:00 from Leamington was mostly locals, including several people travelling through between Leamington and Coventry. Both trains (a single coach class 153) were about half full (35 people).
Both trains were on time despite the number of people taking photos and some people who had obviously never been on a train before!
Unfortunately I can't get my photos to upload.
The new trains for the Gospel Oak-Barking line have been delayed by three months (Islington Gazette). Presumably this means that the old trains will now arrive in the West Midlands next March rather than this December.

My dad used to work there. I remember a photo in the Coventry Evening Telegraph showing the chimney being blown up using the detonating equipment by a lady who was one of the last office employees to leave along with another guy both wearing hard hats.
