Thank you for that. I'm learning all of the time. Brill! Is GKV94 still serviceable, do you know?

GKV94 is sitting in my shed in Corley Moor waiting for some warmer weather to take it out for mileage accumulation, having had a recon engine fitted in 2022. We restored it back to the road between 2017 and 2020, it having been off the road for the previous 10+ years. 2024 sees the 45th anniversary of the last Coventry rear loader in operation and all four of my Coventry buses will be taking part in some form of commemoration.

Hi all, Well documented in the media is the announcement that the National Express bus dispute has been settled, normal service from Monday. It's my opinion, that cost recovering will take place, to recuperate the extra costs. We will see.

I think thanking the driver stems from when there were no more conductors!

Today, I've travelled the Coventry spaghetti route of the No 51. If you do attempt such, please have back-up supplies, plenty of drinking water & grub, but in opening hours, there are plenty of pubs on route. One hour intervals, Monday to Saturday. The route is operated by Stagecoach with six horses. Today's springtime weather is replaced by yuk tomorrow, so making best use of todays out & about weather. From the PoolMeadow, I watched the No 51 depart from V stand, then, I leisurely walked to the X1 stand, boarded the Birmingham bound bus, alighted at Kingsbury Rd, then waited a few minutes to board the 51, having shortcut it's route by about ten minutes. The total route time from PoolMeadow to UHCW, Walsgrave, is 76 minutes, so a urinal bottle might be needed. Oh what excitement. The driver told me today, that folk board the bus in the PoolMeadow, simply because the destination states UHCW, without a clue that it takes 76 minutes, when the No9 from the PoolMeadow takes less than half an hour. A service provided for often the most vulnerable, who haven't a clue about timetables or map reading.

Does anyone remember a male Conductor on the #9 Copsewood service from town who called out all the street names at any given stop? e.g. Hillfields: Berry St, Vernon St, King Edward Road. Stoke Green: Bulls Head, Bullshead Lane, Bray's Lane. Empress Buildings, Binley Road. I was quite fascinated by him as a youngster!
