Coventry Trams

The only thing I discovered regarding trams was when we demolished the Priory Street baths the walkway around the swimming pool was re-enforced with tramlines because there was a large ducting witch ran the full length of the pool, whether they were old worn out ones they used I don't know. Also going off topic the swimming pool must have taken a direct hit during the war because there was a tree growing in the deep end, there is a pic somewhere, will see if I can sort it out.

Sorry about this. It may sound daft to some, but where were the trams stored at (their depot). A lot is said about the memories people have of them, I know they ran to Bedworth, but where were they stored, and where did they take there power from?

I lived in a city with trams in the 1990s and they were excellent.

All this information is just great. I have picked up on something that interests me. Tramcar 32 was built in 1907 by Milnes Voss and is resting derelict in a copse somewhere in Warwickshire, Does any one know where this is? I don't think for one minute there will be much left, 105 years of our weather will have put paid to the wood and most of the metal. But it would be nice to get some photos.

It's so sad to see things from our past, Coventry's history ending up like this. I can understand why people of today buy old buses and spend most of there own time and money on them. It's part of our history, like Pete Waterman and his train engines, selecting items from our past for the people of tomorrow. Not much can be done for this I am afraid. R.I.P. Coventry Tram.

I'm too young to remember Coventry trams but a bloke I knew many years ago by the name of 'Arthur' told me he cried the day after the Blitz because he knew then the tramway system would be scrapped as a result of the bombing. It was already being phased-out in any case but the Blitz hastened the process by several years.

I never realised how extensive the tram network was in Coventry. The history is really interesting. It's sad to think that Coventry has now fallen behind other cities in this technology. I know in the 90s the Council tried to introduce the system again but it was not accepted as a viable proposition by anyone.
