Road names changes from New Road at the Ash Green end and Exhall Road at the Keresley end.

Morning Philip, Would you remember where the No. 15 bus terminated at the other (new end in the late 50's) We lived about half way up, the new estate of Beake Avenue and had a very handy bus stop nearly outside our door. I remember the Craftsman pub had been built but never knew how far the No. 15 went.

Hi all Pam & I had our wedding reception at the Craftsman, September 1968, Dreamtime. I can just about remember Beake Avenue from the mid fifties. Do you remember Pilgrim's newsagents shop. It was a temp' hut whilst the shops were being built. I knew John Pilgrim from school days. I remember cattle in the field, which was at the end of Rotherham Rd., which would be about 1955 time. Some bus crews called the No15 terminus "Ivy Cottages". In the present Morrison's store, there is a huge black & white picture of the junction dating from the late twenties. Library Pictures ps. Somewhere, I have seen a photo of the original Ivy Cottage where several generations of the same family had lived. This was a question asked in the Coventry Telegraph, last year: Quote, "john dempsey said: i have lived in holbrooks most of my life and am trying to find out why the bus stop at wheelright lane near the hub public house used to be known as the ivy cottage March 29, 2011 6:07 PM"

Hi Philip, I remember the shops but as for the names well your memory is far better than mine but we would have been living there about 1955. When you mention Morrison's do you think that is the same Morrison's who had a branch on the Holyhead Road nearly opposite Four Pounds Avenue? That would have been about early 50's or a different Morrison's altogether.

Hi Dreamtime, Yes. It started as Gateway, then Somerfield & now Morrisons. It is where the old Brico foundry was, off Parkgate Rd.

Because Matchbox refer to it as a 1930 Leyland TD1 And I couldn't trace CT ever running one of those I thought it might just be an error on the box, but on the underside of the model it clearly states 1930 Leyland Titan TD1 That's what the mystery is/was How accurate is the livery? And would it have carried a Newcastle Brown ad on both sides? Oh, and would it have had number plates? Mmm

Hi to you both I love the pic as well as the others in the picture show. I might just be able to remember the Guy Arab fleet No 288 on it's route to Allesley. In the days of me coming home from school where I waited for my No7 to go to Sewall Highway from outside the Hippodrome, (usually a Thursday for half day closing), I am sure it was one of several of this vintage coming along Corporation St, carrying workers from AWA Baginton as well as the Jaguar in Browns Lane. A bit like our steam trains, where I took them for granted & then they were gone.

There was probably one somewhere emblazoned "Tottenham Hotspur 1987 FA Cup Winners"
