Hi, I have recently found out by my mum that she gave birth to a daughter at Keresley Hospital and went straight to St Faith's shelter for 6 weeks until the adoption process was complete. It was around August 1963. Does anyone know how I can find out any information about my half sister. Unfortunately that's the only information my mum knows, as she couldn't even register her daughter. While my mum had her for the 6 weeks she called her Sharon. I would appreciate any information. I was born on the 17th December 1960 at St Faith's in Coventry. My birth mother's name was Patricia Marsh and my birth name was Donna Marsh. I am trying to trace my birth mother who I believe was born in Kettering and whom would now be 74yrs of age. Any info would be much appreciated J.clarke

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I was born on the 7/7/1961 and was at St Faith's shelter until my adoption at 6 weeks of age. My mother named me Cheryl Ann Smith, and her name was Sandra Smith, father's name John Bayliss. I am trying to trace my family history and was wondering if anyone could me. Thanks, Sheila. S bonard

There were two Susan G Smith marriages in Coventry in 1968; you can find the husbands here.
Of course she could have married later or elsewhere or not at all, but this may be a clue.
Regarding the Sandra Smith in the previous query, with such a common surname you really need a middle name to be able to trace any later marriage with reasonable certainty.

Thank you so much Admin of Historic Coventry Forum for keeping this very important forum running.
I stumbled across this site by sheer accident yesterday. I was on google and punched in Sandra Smith Coventry which led me here.
There it was item 34 posted by Mickey09. I read this post what seemed like a million times before it finally got through to me that my very very long lost daughter was looking for her parents.
I am John Baylis father of Sheila. This is a dream come true for me, I now know my daughter is alive and I hope in good health. I have wanted all my adult life to find my daughter but afraid to pursue this for fear of causing enormous upset in the lives of both mother and daughter, for example did their families know about Sandra, Sheila and myself.
I have sent a pm to Sheila with contact details and now waiting very nervously.

Thank you all for your kind messages of support, so far so good. My daughter Sheila and I have been exchanging emails since my last posting, I have just received a lovely photo of the family I did not even know I had and found out that I am a grandfather and great grandfather. Downside for me is I cannot just jump in the car and pay a visit, on the positive side I found out my daughter has found me making me the happiest man in the world, hope one day I will be able to meet them all. Thanks John j a t baylis
