We all like to moan a little bit about our council but I think they also deserve a bit of praise now and again. Has anyone heard of Dol-Y-Moch? It is an Outdoor Educational Centre for all. When I was an apprentice on Cov Council, all apprentice trades were invited to revamp the place back in the sixties, which they did. I had forgotten about the place until today, so I checked, it is still up and running. Bravo for the Council for still maintaining it and sending the school children to it. With all the cuts I thought it would have slipped by the wayside. Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up It opened in 1966.

One of my X foster daughters went there for a week in the 80s, she loved it, she said it was the first time she had done anything outdoorsy. I know she came back mud caked along with all her clothes, but it was worth the mess to see the sparkle in her eyes Thumbs up Happyhippie

Brilliant place and a great asset for Coventry. When I was working as a mechanic we used to maintain their vehicles. On one occasion one of their guys was on the way down to Coventry and had a problem with a front wheel bearing on the Transit he was driving. I remember going out to fix it at the roadside, it had a badly damaged front stub axle but he went away happy Smile It's really good to hear that Dol-y-Moch is still going strong.
