Nauls Mill Park today (2013). It's a pity the Council don't use the pond as they have done in the Swanswell. Fill it with water, and let the birds use it. Not far from the noise of the city, yet so peaceful at mid day.
Always looking forward to looking at the past.

Bands in the park again, that will be nice. Will the Salvation Army take part again? I remember the day when . . . . |

That is the worst part at our time of life Dreamtime, when you can remember the full stops but not the parts in between. |

Glad I am not the only one scrutiny. Going back to the Coventry bands, was there ever a bandstand at the Memorial Park,
I should imagine there was one but I can't remember seeing it. |

I remember the tennis courts and the bowling greens, also a putting green in Longford Park. I was told off by the park keeper many times for venturing onto the bowling greens, in my later youth I had the pleasure of mowing them sitting on the petrol mower.
I also remember that Holbrooks Park had a bandstand and a putting green. TCS

Hi MickW, me too, and the lovely one at Nauls Mill. It is a shame to see them disappearing. |

Does anyone out there know where "Coventry Park" was/is? I've just come across a reference to 'The Coventry Ring', a fifteenth century finger ring which depicts the five wounds of Christ. According to the website of the British Museum, where it is now held, the ring was found in 1802 '... in Coventry Park close to the city wall.' The Herbert have a facsimile of the ring and their website contains photographs of the ring but not much information. |
