Thank you for that link, Pixrobin, regarding my uncle Johnny Medlock. John's mum, Aunty Win and his dad uncle Vincent lived on Daventry Road Cheylesmore and used to have some of the acts from the Coventry Theatre stay with them. As a lad, I met a young Cliff Richard, Morecambe and Wise and Alma Cogan there |

I'm looking for some info if anyone remembers a gig by the Yetties (a folk band) in Coventry, possibly in the White Lion, in the early 1970's?
Apparently my parents met at this gig and I wondered if anyone here had a recollection of it? |

Ha, Dorset's 'Scrumpy and Western' band! Their own version of the Wurzels.
I don't know about the gig, but maybe ask someone at their website

It's vaguely possible that they performed at the Fletch Folk Club on the Highway. |

I shall have to ask a few questions of the rest of the family but I think Annewiggy may have hit the jackpot. 1972 would be pretty much spot on. I shall let you know. |

Coventry Band "The Enemy" have announced tonight that they are splitting up. They have been together for ten years and have had four number ones.
They will perform six "farewell" gigs. |

I went to the Albany Theatre tonight to see Folk-Rock legends, Fairport Convention.
What a gem of a venue! Looks fabulous inside. The sound was excellent and the band player superbly.
Poorly attended, though. I've seen the band play bigger venues in smaller towns and fill them. Having said that, I've not seen any promotion for this gig. Almost a perfect location for a concert venue: on site car park and a hotel.

It still looks the same. A friend who came with me (not from Coventry) thought it was a fantastic place and was surprised Coventry even had such a cool venue. I last went there about 20 years when I was a student and the Polytechnic music society used to stage their shows there. |

Hi Foxcote can you please tell me where the 'Blue Nile Club' was situated on the Radford Road?
I think it was in what was originally the cinema, it then became the bowling alley and there was a club upstairs which I am sure was the Blue Nile Club, it was a gambling club as well. It is now the bingo.
