Reading on another forum, the fans are not pleased that Highfield Road was sold off by Geoffrey Robinson so I read, also not pleased with the council either, so some fans are debating to get their own grounds, one suggested up the A444, and see how the council copes then with financing of the Ricoh, one said.

Robinson is not happy either. He gave away his shareholding at a personal cost to him of £20m on the understanding that the new owners would invest heavily in the club. Other fans gave up what was in effect was their life savings to no avail. The club already has the option of buying 50% of the existing ground which they have so far not taken up. The council's primary responsibility is to provide value-for-money for local residents, many of whom have no interest in football.

I don't think the fans know the part of Robinson giving away all that, if they did I don't think they would be tearing him apart like they are, also I don't blame the club not buying into it, from what I've read also as having dealings in the past with this council seems they haven't got anyone working there with any common sense, as one girl on the council said when I asked don't they employ anyone with common sense there, eg, on uncurable TB spreading through this country, London being the highest, and Middlesex putting police with anti stab vests onto the streets to prevent the foreigners spitting on the streets, also why don't they collect the scrap, and benefit as it's such a high price now, her reply was no, it's not what you know it's who you know to get a job here.

I'm not an expert on football but the concensus at Sky Blues Talk was that any new investment would be better spent on purchasing a half-share of the Ricoh Arena than on expensive new players. So far it has to be said, owners SISU have shown little interest in doing either.

It was Richardson who sold Highfield Road, not Robinson, although both made a killing. The Richardson era was the start of the decline in the club's fortunes, which at the present time looks terminal. The present owners do not recognise that a football club needs its fans, they are the main source of income. Not only do SISU not recognise this, they bend over backwards to alienate said fans. They have sold or given away what decent players we had and replaced them with youth team players or players of League Two standard. Hence our gates have fallen to 12,000 and are still dropping, and this from a norm of 20-22,000. Things can only get worse.

No comments about the Sky Blues since last year. Have we all given up. Sad Dreamtime, how is your hubby coping with the results. I hope he's not miserable every weekend. Oh my

SISU the faceless group of multi-millionaires that own our club are doing their best to destroy us. They have not invested in players to the extent that we have only 16 available for selection, and a number of those are nursing injuries that would normally keep them out for weeks. They have still not informed the FA how they intend to finance us next season - so we still have a transfer embargo. They have now failed to pay the Council the £100,000 monthly rental for the Stadium. But their worst failing by far is the failure to talk to the fans - to keep them informed of their intentions for the Club. If the fans turn their backs the Club is doomed. I have been a supporter since 1946 and sad does not adequately describe my feelings.

Sad to think that Coventry City FC is on the verge of returning to where it was before Jimmy Hill was brought in over half a century ago And it will take more than £30,000 to buy a new forward line (Humphries, Barr, Bly, Whitehouse, Laverick) Sad

You're absolutely right MR. The other major drawback is that, 50 years on, there is no Jimmy Hill figure appearing on the horizon this time to lead us to 'The Promised Land' Sad

I remember when the club went up to the old 1st division. A book came out about the Sky Blues just after and it sold out within hours. I was working at W H Smith at the time and we had 100s of copies of the book, people were buying 2 or 3 copies at a time.

The one who should take most of recent years blame is Brian Richardson, he skimmed all assets off for his own good, sold Highfield Road (which if still there at least we would still own something!!) A lot of people blamed Gordon Strachan, which was way off the mark, he did all he could but his hands were tied by BR. I have great belief in what Andy Thorn is doing so come on guys 'Play up Sky Blues'. I believe in miracles. Cheers Cheers Thumbs up Thumbs up

I believe the gates dropped dramatically when Jimmy Hill introduced all-seater accommodation at Highfield Road and never recovered to the levels they had been previously.

In the early years of the old first division City's gates were extremely healthy. They averaged well over 30,000 per game with several gates of over 40,000. Smile

It is a sad day that Coventry City have gone down now, it is a sad day for a lot of us but let us smile and remember the good old days, like this one - one of the best days of my life, as I was there like a lot of us was. Come on City we can do it next year, I hope Sad Big grin
