I absolutely agree. But, of course, the report did NOT say that the Ricoh is the worst stadium in the country, it is just lazy reporting. That would be a ludicrous thing to say about a stadium that was chosen for Olympic matches and has 32000 seats, all with an excellent view. Some of the shabby old stadiums in the Premier League such as Goodison, Anfield, etc, can only dream of the Ricoh's sight lines.
What the survey was assessing is the matchday experience, and some of the visits were made several years ago.. Of course, the fact that the team is in dire straits and playing in front of 7-8000 fans and losing most of the time makes for a poor experience, especially given the understandable negativity towards the club's owners. The Ricoh with 20000+ inside is actually a very good atmosphere and experience, far better than some of those at the bottom of the survey's list. As for places like WBA and Sheffield United at the top - words fail me!

For those who haven't read the survey, the comment about the Ricoh is:
Worst feature: Often-soulless atmosphere in a virtually empty stadium - the move to a new ground just hasn't worked out, and it's hard not to feel for Coventry fans in that situation. Home end has been shut and used to house a giant Jimmy Hill banner, a reminder of what the club used to be.
As MisterD-Di says, the survey was assessing the matchday experience - CCFC 2017 is hardly in the best state for a reasoned assesssment of its stadium to be carried out
And for it to be rated below the likes of Grimsby, Crawley and Newport is astonishing - I wonder what the survey would have made of Fellows Park (Walsall) with its laundry wall at one end, and Northampton Town's County Ground (standing on benches along the cricket ground side!) back in the day!
As also mentioned, it's more "lazy reporting" from Trinity Mirror |

One of my ambitions in the forty odd years I've lived in Coventry has always been to see my home city play my adopted city in a football match. It looks likely that I will get to see this next season but not in the way I'd hoped for as I'd always thought it would be in a cup match |

My dad used to work as a steward at Highfield Road. He used to chat to Jimmy Hill sometimes and bring home memorabilia. I remember my mum always making my dad a flask of Camp coffee, usually with a bit of whisky in it to take with him. |

When I was a kid my dad used to take me to Highfield Road to watch the 'Bantams' football team. Bantams are a domestic bird or, dad told me, dug-outs on the Western Front were sometimes named 'The Bantams'. So where did Coventry get the name? |

Coventry City were known as 'the Bantams' well before the First World War. The nickname actually evolved over the years, as they were previously known as the 'Little Blackbirds', based on their black and red shirts and the fact that they were a team of small players who relied on a skilful passing game. Eventually, by 1908 they became known as the Bantams, because of the small stature of the players. Upon joining the Southern League in that year, City were one of the few clubs without a nickname, and 'The Bantams' was the suggestion of Nemo, the Telegraph reporter, and soon caught on.
The nickname stuck until the Jimmy Hill era, and by coincidence they became the Sky Blues by suggestion of a later Nemo (Derek Henderson) in the Telegraph when the new sky blue kit was introduced in 1962. |

What an absolutely fantastic day! I didn't think there were that many people in Coventry let alone Sky Blues fans at Wembley.
From the second the Tube doors opened from the Jubilee Line virtually every person was wearing Sky Blue.
It was one massive party - young and old. My youngest is only ten and had never experienced 40,000+ fans all singing together.
A truly memorable event. I was there in 1987 with my dad and now the roles were reversed - and I'm sure my dad was in Sky Blue Heaven!
The holders, Coventry City, quietly exited this season's competition at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night - in front of just 1,429 spectators |
