Hi all,
I am posting to you on my bunker laptop & have just notice the setting, slightly crescent, moon low in the western sky. Notice the dark side, how it is actually being lit-up by light being reflected from our planet earth. |

Morning Philip,
About the slightly crescent moon, as it belongs to all of us, I noticed Saturday night it was a very a 'skinny' crescent moon and I have never noticed it like that before. That was around 10.30 in this part of the world. Happy stargazing. |

Thank you Philip for the link, they have stated that when spots appear on the sun we as a rule get worse weather didn't the Mayan foretell our climate change.
I can't get the first video up on that link, it keeps buffering, so here is another which explains. I notice how it mentions about the magnetic field, I have read that the earth's magnetic field is weakened by humans digging up and moving too much of iron ore around the plant. I have also noticed hardly any birds about compared to last year at this time.
Clip 2 from the BBC documentary 'the Sun'. |

Hi all
Perseids promise spectacular shooting star show - from midnight on Monday. Please click on link for details. I have watched this "shower" in several previous years & it is very entertaining if the weather is kind.

A storm is coming: Sun's poles are set to FLIP within four months and it could lead to bad weather and radio disruption
In simple terms: "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"

Hi Dutchman
I hope not . There is a link to an explanation on a previous post of mine & happens every eleven years. It can mess around with communication satellites, & it did once disrupt power supplies in Canada, but I do not know of any other serious issues. Hope you ok. |

I'm okay thank you Philip
What I learned from that video that I didn't know before was that the Sun's magnetic field protects us from cosmic radiation so if it fails for any reason we're all dead
Still, we've all gotta go sometime Philip so it may as well be in a blaze of glory!

Will you be looking towards the evening sky for the Perseids shower Philip or will it be difficult from where you are? |

It's perfectly clear where I am Philip. I can see the stars but no sign of any meteors?

Hi Dutchman
It cleared about midnight. Like you I saw nothing. I intended to look around 3 to 4am but unfortunately I was snoring away. There is tonight to see. |

Hi all, Sunday night I stayed at it for about 2 hrs. In that time I seen 5, 2 of them really good streaks across the sky. Some were that small I discounted them as I only caught glimpses of them. You need to look straight up, not towards the horizon. They appear to be coming in from the north-north east. Also last night the ISS came over from out of the west, very bright for about 5 mins. Tonight the ISS is due at 22.12 pm, lasting approx 5 mins also from the westerly direction. Time is exact so keep watching, although you might waste a minute finding it. Happy Meteor hunting. |

Last night my daughter and I saw 2 bright ones and 3 small ones, one right over my garden, seemed very low and bright heading towards the Ricoh, also heading west about midnight, all with in about 30 minutes if that. My garden is very dark, is yours dark Philip, as it does make a difference. |
