Astronomy, The Sky and Outer Space

It was too clear here when the eclipse started to take photos but the clouds thickened just for the key moments. I was in Coventry during the last one. I remember how such a warm afternoon became late evening so quickly. This time it was less obvious because it was already cool. The birds here didn't stop fighting over the bird table to notice the sun.

During the last eclipse the birds went crazy around here, it was like a second dawn chorus. Don't know what happened this time as I slept through it.

This was the best I could achieve looking up Mount Street, Chapelfields. It looks like the entrance to heaven, you can make out the bottom of the moon.

Don't know about Cov but 50 miles south, it's a really clear sky tonight I'm not up on the stars and the planets, apart from the Plough and the Pole Star, so I can see where north is from here I believe the bright one is Jupiter, and there's a very clear constellation which I've just looked up and found it to be Orion the Hunter But it's too cold to stay outside now!

I guess there are a number of similar "Apps" available, but for anyone with an iPad I highly recommend one called "Sky Walk" - which enables the iPad to be held up to the sky (as though the sky is being viewed "through" the screen) where it displays and highlights the star formations as you pan it across the sky. Well worth a look

Lol Rob I am smoking but nothing exotic. I thought some one was when I seen the Axa building. Monoceros the Unicorn The horn of the Unicorn means power from the bible it means Jesus Christ and purity to the Catholics.

I can never understand why they choose to connect such seemingly random dots. There are loads around them you have to ignore for that image. And if they're putting those dots together, surely it should be putting the emergency brakes on like in cartoons instead of this tripped out My Little Pony-style gallop. Given the length of the neck though I think it should be a giraffe anyway. There isn't even an extra bit on/near the end to indicate the horn!

The exact timing and position of the ISS passes can be found at www.heavens-above.com (as well as passes of many other less bright satellites). You need to click the location link at the top right and enter your location such as Tile Hill and save that for future use. Then click on ISS under Satellites and it will give details of the next few days passes. There will be dates when there are none. The brightest sightings will have a large negative value eg -3.0. Positive numbers are not visible to the naked eye. Obviously the sky also needs to be clear. Remember too we are currently in time zone GMT+1.

After reading I found the Royal book and Wikipedia states Samuel Foster was a native of Northamptonshire, the Royal book was dated later on than the Cambridge book, in which I found another piece in a Cambridge book part stating again Samuel Foster born at Coventry . Read last line on paragraph above then continue next page down here. Now I know whom Foster Rd is named after bottom of the Rd in which I lived in Sadler Rd. Link
