You're at a table in some kind of building that serves coffee. Is that helpful?

The Coffee shop was next to Coventry railway station, Helen. Expensive but very nice Coffee. Yesterday, being Sunday, after playing at my chapel in Foleshill, I went for a spot of lunch at the Rose & Crown, opposite Stoke St. Michaels Parish. The bells were being rung, so I stayed awhile to listen.

Hope that everyone has their hot cross buns at the ready, have a restful Easter, but don't forget the symbolism in these controversial times.

Philip , I suspect that you are playing politician here with that photo. No way do you have that waistline with the appetite that you have displayed in your gourmet posts here.

Hello, There is a side to my comments of humour. Loneliness is such an issue for so many folk. Many won't admit to it, instead suffering in silence. Our forum, obviously not a dating site, but for folks with attachment to Coventry, it's your point of contact to be involved with any Coventry related topic. Even if you have a different opinion on something that you have read on here, pull up a chair & join in. You can belong here. Have a good day in spite of the weather.

I think that 'suffering in silence' is a very appropriate phrase. I have a friend who is in his nineties and in a rest home over 60 miles from where he lived previously. He is in his room 24hrs a day and only has visits from his children. Too infirm to go to a day room and isolated with only television for company. Poor eyesight restricts that use. We communicate by telephone and he has a few other people who do the same but that is all. I don't doubt that there are many others in a similar situation living on their own. My daughter works at a checkout in a supermarket and is in an area with many old people. She tells of regular elderly customers who like to chat as this is often their only contact outside the home. I agree Philip that although this forum is not specifically designed for that purpose, the chat topics are useful particularly for older members to stay in a world outside their houses and humour can only help, daft as it may sometimes be.

Thank you for extending your kind invitation to our members. I have a fairly busy life but I love to hear peoples memories, family histories and see their photos on the Forum. I looked forward to them, especially during covid, and you could almost tell by some folks' joyous reaction how delighted they were/are to have this in their lives. Thank you to the Forum's starters, managers and detectives who bring joy and laughter every day.
