Hi Helen, hi all, My preference for Morrison's comes down to convenience. The Holbrooks store, walking distance away, whilst a very reliable online delivery service. An absolute treasure during Pam's illness, but also an asset for Pam when I had a spell in hospital over six years ago. Philip and co. I was a Co-opper no. 58046. Would I still qualify (locally, that was)?

I could probably count on one hand the number of times I ever used the Co-op but I have fond memories because due to three different special offers/sales I bought my very first kettle and microwave, all for the price of the kettle.

I remember the Co-op making home deliveries in the mid 50's - way ahead of their time. When I worked in Kensington we had a wide variety of customers and while I was serving one woman she panicked a bit when she realized that her bread delivery from Harrods was due in a few minutes and she had to rush off.

My mum loved the big Co-op in Prior Deram Walk, Canley. We used to go to their holiday camp in Rhyl with her divi savings.

Thanks to Dean Nelson on FB. Not sure we've seen this one before of the Co-op on Spon Street. Anyone know what number it was? Looks like a pub next door and an old court entrance to the left.

Quality picture In the 1955 directory they are listed at number 65. Later directories list it at number 66. It also looks like the building to the left is numbered 64.

Hi Neil, looking at the car, would you say mid 60's?

I think so Mick - Austin 11/1300? I had an 1100 as my first car! The second shot shows Meadow House is up in the background which was completed in 1967. The pub closed around then, too sadly.

It didn't last long.....................probably a good job....

Think I'm right in saying this is the original Earlsdon Street store -

Hi Neil, Earlsdon yes, first Earlsdon shop no. That was the drapery shop here but there was a grocery shop here. I haven't looked for more. Their first shop was in Cook Street at number 36 here. Corrected to show 36 rather than 35. It's one of those annoying numbering cases. The book says 36.
