Renold chain's sports ground used to be on the corner of Broad Lane and the highway, next door to the Co-op sports field...two companies both now sadly disappeared...

Renold Chain football pitch probably the best in Coventry. Very lucky to have played on it once.

At the time there were so many good soccer pitches supported by factories. Sphinx, Standard, Jaguar, Brico, Masseys, Wickmans, AP Leamington, Rootes, Coventry Co-op, the list goes on and on. I played for the Alvis for many years, we were lucky to have them, wouldn't happen now!!! But would put the old Butts pitch as the best around!! It was junior football's "Wembley".
