I worked at Dunlop 1967-2013 in the Laboratory but dealt with Purchasing on a daily basis. I got to know Keith Lenton quite well. Really honest & nice guy. I knew he had been a football referee but never knew he played as well.

Yes Mick Strong. Mary Davies worked as Buyer and Lol Burgess was Manager of Buying Department. Knew them both very well. Mary was a very good netball player as I recall. John Lapworth took over from Lol. |

Hi Derrickarthur
Thanks, yes it was Mary Davies. We got quite a bit of work from Mary and Keith. One part I remember was the brake disc for the RJ? But when Lol came back into the office, we lost it all, I guess to his suppliers.

Mick Strong. I think I remember you. I worked in the Laboratory and looked after incoming materials, sub contract work & sub contract processes. Were you known as "Iron Mike" Strong? Which company did you work for? |

Dean Nelson has just come up trumps with this one of Alma Street - obviously post Dunlop but I loved the ghost-sign. That row of terraces has hung on to this day.

Thank you for the photograph of the Carnival Exhibit 1959 'Polio Prevention'. I am standing midway in the front. Happy memories. |

I remember that one year they had a bedstead fitted with disc brakes [new in 1950's] and another time they fitted rear wheel steering which almost proved disastrous. Massey Ferguson, Rolls Royce and many other auto/aviation companies took part. |

It would have been Armstrong Siddeley in those days, Rolls-Royce didn't take over until about 1966/67. |
