I agree Dreamtime, men never do really grow up, just look at Peter Pan. However I must agree with Philip as well, it must have been horrendous seeing that image in the mirror. |

Used to visit Whitworth, almost across the street from Cov station; I'm sure he was pretty good for the era, but the equipment these days is so much better, needles (if you need them!) are thinner and the 'dope' more effective - things in that respect have improved. Still have my '32' in reasonable nick! Rarely visit dentist these days and avoid the needle, not because of the jab, but the numbness lasting half a day! |

Diagonally across from the Holbrooks pub was my dentist when I was a lad. A huge Australian bloke called Killer Cross. |

Hi all
The house on the corner that became the dental surgery was the doctors residential house. Mr Cross was also my dentist. When he was at the point of retirement & moving away, I bought many of his bits of dental machinery. Not for do-it-yourself dentistry you understand, but for drilling holes in locomotive boilers & polishing soldiered joints. |

It was called Cross & Orton Dentists when I used to go. I went to Mr Orton, he used to sing whilst drilling your teeth. |

Hi all
I occasionally bump into the former dental surgery nurse & receptionist Pauline, locally when out & about. |
