In the 1950's there was a small coach garage at the top end of Dennis Road, in Wyken/Stoke Heath, on the corner opposite the Gents Hairdressers and Post Office....
Could it have been Supreme Coaches?
Yes you're spot on, the owner was Ron Bonas, he used to park some of the coaches on the Grange pub car park which my father in law ran at the time and the drivers came in for a drink after work, they were a great bunch of blokes. |

Does anyone remember free transport on Lloyds buses to and from their place of work? I used to catch a Lloyds bus at Gosford Green to take me to Bristol Siddeley in Ansty. Also, from Bedworth to Alfred Herbert's in Coventry and Lutterworth. |

I think you`ll find that it was Groves Coaches. I lived a short distance from this garage during my earliest years. |

My older brother used to hand paint the Lloyds double deckers, the paint he used was Tekaloid dark blue and you would swear they had been sprayed.

CCT used Tekaloid in the 50`s/60`s and when I found out, I repainted a mini with it, in black. I used camel hair brushes and smoothed it with 1000 grade wet and dry and it looked a million dollars. |

Coach painting is a bit of an art. I used to repaint my cars with Dulux but you would never have known they were not sprayed. Paint was cheaper too, but that is where my apprenticship came into it. Ford st Art school done us all well. |

I haven't managed to read all posts on here, so I might just be repeating what someone else has already posted. Has anyone else seen the Adrian Sainsbury School of Scary HGV Driving on Facebook? I think you'll find a few interesting pictures.
