I was told when he played a tune it meant he had run out of ice cream

Funny, an ice cream van has just stopped right outside our door, Joe's ice cream, could not make out the tune, only plated a few notes !

What lovely memories. I'm sure Popeye was a D-Di tune. I know in many ways I had a privileged upbringing, but my mum & dad didn't have a freezer whilst living in Coventry. They had a fridge, but the freezer compartment would only freeze ice-cubes, not keep ice cream, hence the popularity of ice cream vendors. As well as D-Di, we had Dan Dan the ice cream man, washed his face in a frying pan. He had a battery van. No jingles, just a hooter. D-Di's was the better ice cream in my opinion. Happy days!

I have a hankering for Cornish icecream. I can't seem to find it where I hang out.

The Guardian newspaper did a review of Australian vanilla ice cream here. The best and worst were both from Aldi. Best being Kapiti Vanilla Bean.
