I quite enjoy the feature in the Coventry Telegraph entitled "On this day: Old photos" However, we were saddened today to see that, for the second time in a matter of days, the photos included one of an old friend, Kath Adams Obviously, those responsible for putting together this feature will not always be aware of background of those involved - we understand that Some on here may recall the tragic circumstances in which Kath, and her husband Albert, died as a result of an arson attack at their home in Rugby (Daily Telegraph report) in 2010 So, we viewed the photos with much sadness, as well as some smiles remembering happier times spent in their company I wonder if any ex-Massey Ferguson forum members remember Albert Adams?

Were the scum who commited this heinous crime as reported in the DT ever caught MR ?

In the late 70's the main reason for getting the Evening Telegraph was often either because you were looking for somewhere to live (Tuesday?) or looking for a job (Thursday). I would imagine the sales on those two days greatly exceeded the other days.

My parents, who only passed away a couple of years ago, always had a copy of the Telegraph delivered. I don't know why; habit I suppose. They were not remotely interested in the adverts, but reading the local "news" only depressed them: appalling acts of human unkindness, lack of respect for other people's lives, despicable acts of cruelty and suchlike. "What a terrible world we now live in" etc. By the way, does anyone remember the "Pinks" that used to be delivered to all newsagents' shops after 1800 hrs. on a Saturday, in black CET vans driven by suicidal drivers whose driving gave you the impression that they wanted to prematurely end their lives?

Back in the fifties you could buy CET several times in the afternoon and they would be later results in each. I believe in the stop press page, anyone know if they were different editions or how many editions they printed each day? There was a guy named Brumas in the fifties, kept pestering me to do an article on me, thought I was eccentric, never found out if he really worked for the CET or not.

As I recall it, there were at least three editions printed daily Along the strip on the front page showing, inter alia, the date, there were one, two or three black dots denoting first, second or third edition Whether there was also an out-and-out early edition or final edition, as well as these, I don't know

There were certainly at least three editions I can recall - Lunch, Final and City Final but I suspect there may have been more in its heyday as the CET was the primary source of up-to-date local news (and racing results) as were all the local papers

Yeh that's what I thought, several editions. Thanks for the confirmation.

There may also have been one called Late or Late Final as well but as I've moved about a bit I could be confusing it with somewhere else.

It was called the Night Final

Thank you Dutchman I do seem to remember the paper sellers shouting "Night Final", (if you could work out what they were shouting, as some seemed to take great delight in being incomprehensible)
