PhilipInCoventry said: Thank you for a lovely time at Wetherspoons this morning. What a small world too! I was once told that getting old is when we look back more than looking forward, but I can honestly say that on this site, I look forward to reading what is still to come about the past as well as what is ahead of us. Wishing you all well. Philip
Good to meet you again Philip ! Thanks to you and to Rob and Mr & Mrs Innis Road for making it a really enjoyable morning. Many memories stirred with names and places long forgotten. Look forward to Round 2 in the not too distant future.

I am still unable to upload a pic from either my jpeg pc pics or of the flickr site. It has taken me months to get to be able use my smart phone so there is hope yet.

Great meeting this morning. For the 1950s bus routes go to http://www.cct-society.org.uk/corporation/routes.htm. You should be able to find out what you wanted there.

I have uploaded an image using the upload image link at the top of the forum (next to my logged in name). I have then used add at the top of the "Enter New Post" pane. Then I clicked the button next to "Insert selected image".

IslandCafe said: Well, how did this meetup go? I would loved to have been there but a 400 mile round trip would have been a bit much. As compensation my wife made me bacon and mushroom rolls (sorry, batches). I pictured you all there looking around trying to identify each other and I also pictured Dutchman lurking furtively in the background making observations and taking notes (just joking Dutchman). Anyway I hope you enjoyed yourselves and hopefully will see a few photos here before too long. Alan
Hello Alan. It was lovely. As long as we have this site, it's nearly as good as being there. Where you live, I used to enjoy trainspotting in steam days. My parents retired to live in Bodmin, mid sixties.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you all, I've only just got round to switching on the computer today! But I must say a huge thank you to Midland Red, PhilipInCoventry and Mr. & Mrs. InnisRoad for such a pleasurable morning.... and a quick extra thank you to Philip for the lovely breakfast! Happy It's a shame we didn't take some group pictures to post on here, but on second thoughts, we don't want to scare away the membership!!! Wink I also look forward to next time.... my shout for brekky!

We hope to come to Coventry again on Saturday 10th September, to travel on the rear loading bus tour leaving the Transport Museum at 10.30. We could have coffee, etc, at the museum restaurant before departing, or later, when the bus returns. The tour should take about 45 minutes. Any takers?

Would have said "yes" to that had it not been for the fact that it is Heritage Open Weekend (which the bus tour forms a part of) so will be "out & about".

Great! The 4 of us will be around town for Heritage Weekend that day, so what nicer way to start the day than a friendly chat before setting off. Thumbs up Apparently the museum opens each day at 10am, so we'll aim to be there by 10 to see you before your tour. Cheers, Rob

We will try to arrive at the Memorial Park for 09.30, giving us plenty of time to get the Park and Ride into Hales Street.

That's a shame Tony - it's a bit of a bus-ride from there, isn't it!

By the time Laurence's tour has finished, we'll probably be in St. Mary's Guildhall chatting to Dave McGrory who works in there. A musical event will also be at the Guildhall - a group called "Blast from the Past" who will be doing period music demonstrations. It'll be lovely to see any of you in there if you're passing.

Is there any chance of a pre-Christmas fried breakfast get-together ?

Every chance... I hope! We'll be in town for a bit of shopping next Saturday anyway (and to look around the record/CD fair at Central Hall, too). Plus, I have next Monday off work - using up my last spare day of annual leave - so what better to do with it than a breakky and a chat! Cheers
