Hi, I was just thinking of what happened to the rectangular large water feature that used to be between BHS and M&S. I think it had carvings on the end wall and always coins in the water. Any ideas when it disappeared?

It was outside Macfisheries - I worked there 70-72. The carvings on the ends are now on the wall of the Herbert. Not sure when it disappeared as I went off to polytechnic in 78 then to live in Brum - returned to Coventry in 1990. It had gone then! Someone on here will know! Wave

Actually I have a black-and-white photo of me, with shoulder-length hair, sat right next to this "water feature". But I'm afraid it would take quite a hefty donation to charity to get me to post it on here!! Happy

If my memory serves me right again, and it doesn't always, was there a sort of water feature in Broadgate once, in the shape of a wishing well? And just by the Bull Yard, in Shelton Square, off Market Way, there was a water feature.
Always looking forward to looking at the past.

Hi Baz, yes I recall the small fountain in Shelton Square. It was in the centre where the steps are now situated by Tesco. I'm trying to remember the other. I'll post if I do.

Hi Pat. I think it was towards the Holy Trinity corner of Broadgate. It may have vanished about the same time as our birdcage? Broadgate has had more makeovers than any other part of our city, I think it was in the late 80's early 90's. Blush

The well was uncovered when the temporary shops were demolished. It was only ever exposed for a few years before Cathedral Lanes was built on the site.

Hi Baz, you can see the Broadgate well on this page of the main site Wishing Well (third photo up from the bottom of page)
