Taken in the city somewhere I believe, 1920s/30s? The foreground figure might be my grandfather. Can anyone identify the location?

Oooh we love a challenge here, Humber! That's a grand doorway which I don't immediately recognise and the building appears to be timbered/beamed along the side plus quite wide. I'll get looking but no doubt Helen will come up trumps. It's not somewhere around where Whitefriars Street joined Much Park Street, is it?

If I had to guess, I'd say it was the corner of Little Park Street and the High Street.

The doorway looks like it matches the Midland Bank, including the curved step going thick to thin, left to right. The bank was built before 1900, so it was there for 1920.

It looks a very good fit! I wonder if the picture on the wall of the bank foyer is the same one - the content does have a similar arched shape.

Pretty sure, my grandfather worked for the corporation transport department. Probably on his lunch break?

I don't know but is that an Irish cardinal stood waiting for an Easter libation?
